IT’S A common plotline from a teen horror movie: young, sexy, 20- somethings take a trip to a remote island for extreme sports, drinking and fun. Only for it all to go wrong when the majority are kidnapped and possibly killed. Everyone that is except the game’s hero, Jason. The game very quickly opens up to reveal a huge open- world to explore between missions. Players can skin animals, trek through deep jungle, drive a whole variety of cars while they explore the island.

that rewards gamers for playing as a team. Battle cries, which players can activate during multiplayer, give surrounding teammates support by boosting shot damage or calling in support weapons. “Far Cryis a key franchise for Ubisoft, and Far Cry 3 is a major focus for us this Christmas”, says Ubisoft’s brand manager Louise Marchant. “The development team has a really ambitious vision for the game. “It’s a huge offering that is much more than just a survival adventure shooter and we are excited to finally be bringing that experience to fans.” Ubisoft has worked hard to get the game into consumers’ hands, with sampling at Eurogamer Expo and more planned this weekend at MCM London Comic Con. Marchant adds: “We’ve also planned a series of in-store hands-on events and social media activity including a Facebook app that allows users to create their own Far Cry 3 ‘Holiday From Hell’ postcard and post it to their friends.”

MINECRAFT MADNESS Minecraftfans can now download a Far Cry 3-inspired map and texture pack for free. The pack offers users the chance to explore and survive the Far Cry 3 experience in a Minecraft setting. This download is packed with new locations, characters from the game and Easter eggs.

Ubisoft has a heavyweight TV campaign planned, which will kick off from November 20th and run through December. The company will target males aged 16 to 34 across a range of key programming. The TV campaign will be supported by video-on-demand pre-rolls.
ONLINE ASSAULT Specialist site takeovers will be running throughout the launch period including on IGN, GameSpot, Eurogamer and CVG. There will also be pre-roll advertising across major networks and YouTube, plus ads on the Xbox Live dashboard.
