11:00am – 1:00pm I’m usually taking a lot of phone calls, with enquiries coming in from new or existing clients, which have to be dealt with. Recruitment is another big part of the job, so I spend some time during the day sifting through applications from potential carers, and selecting a shortlist of people to call in for interview. 1:00pm – 2:00pm I don’t often get time for lunch, so it’s usually just a case of grabbing a quick sandwich and eating while on the job.
2:00pm – 4:00pm I have a team of six working for me and I like to organise regular appraisals. I will also spend some time doing client reviews. If there are any problems I like to arrange visits in person to make sure clients are happy with our services. As we’re still quite small I am able to do this, but obviously as we expand and take on more clients, the face-to-face appointments may get
4:00pm – 5:00pm I mainly spend this time of the day making sure everything has been sorted, as well as checking my emails and answering phone calls – sometimes clients ring last minute asking to change the time of their appointments for the next day, so I have to make sure I can accommodate their requests.
5:00pm provide a 24-hour service. Sometimes I get elderly clients ringing me in the evening to say that they need some shopping picked up – it may not seem like an urgent enquiry, but it is to them if they are elderly, and so I make sure things like this are dealt with. It is rare that I’m contacted during the night, but as the business grows this may change.
