GERMANY MediaMatrix for Franfurt Uni

AS PART of an ongoing renovation project, Frankfurt University has deployed a sizeable Peavey MediaMatrix system across its Riedberg Campus. Consultants Detlef Hartmann and Stephan Mathias of the Hartmann & Mathias Partnership were charged with designing an AV solution that would allow both faculty and students access to a full range of media. Both campuses were equipped with a 10 Gig fibre-optic network backbone, and up to 96 audio channels would be required for a single location on campus – that number would increase to several hundred for the campus as a whole. On top of this, the audio had to be matrixed with video distribution hardware, therefore a flexible solution that could deal with a mix of analogue and digital I/O was required. For the Riedberg Campus, Hartmann and Mathias opted for a Peavey MediaMatrix system. Three distinct

NION projects were deployed over the two buildings: the ISZ, which contains all the large lecture theatres; and the Biologicum, which accommodates a variety of laboratories and classrooms. Each building is a separate network.

For the ISZ , three NION n6s and one NION n3 were deployed along with 13 CAB4n Dante breakout box. For the Biologicum, one NION n6 and

three NION n3s (all 4 nodes in a Peavey XDAB cluster) were installed, along with 17 CAB4ns. An additional NION n3 and two CAB4ns were installed for a smaller project within the Biologicum to cater for some additional meeting rooms. “This is one of the world’s biggest systems with Dante and this technology – and the people at the university are very happy,” says Peavey’s Sebastian Hesse. The head of IT at Frankfurt University believes that MediaMatrix is the future for him; that’s great for us to hear.”n mm.peavey.com

Snipp has been appointed CTO of the Jacksonville, OR, hardware provider. The new structure will see

Stardraw.com focusing on its core business of software tools and services for system design and documentation, and the development of custom (OEM) software solutions for corporate clients. Stardraw.com will continue to support

its existing Stardraw Control products and customers, and this support includes the addition of new drivers as a free service for registered users. n www.stardraw.com
