DENMARK AND Poland are the first countries to invest in Midas’ PRO1, with Poland claiming the first sale just weeks after the digital console premiered at InfoComm in Las Vegas.

quickly by Denmark’s Puk Recording Studio. Polish distributor Audio Plus, a company which made headlines in 2008 after selling its first Midas XL8 two minutes after being appointed an official Midas distributor, handled the sale in Lódz. “The theatre was looking for a console for its Cameral Hall for performing arts and plays,” said project manager, Sylwester Wojcieszek. “After some deliberation the sound department chose the Midas PRO1. They were impressed with the additional DL251, warm sounding effects, compressors and preamps.”

The PRO1 has been “enthusiastically embraced” In Copenhagen, Midas

distributor Matrix Sales announced its first PRO1 sale immediately after taking delivery of the newly launched digital consoles. Morten Laulund Uldbæk of Matrix Sales sold the console to Puk

owner Peter Iversen. Clients of Puk include Elton John, George Michael and Depeche Mode. Iversen commented: “We chose Midas for its superior sound. No other console offers the sound quality of a Midas desk.”

manager, Richard ‘Fez’ Ferriday added: “The fact that the PRO1 has been so enthusiastically embraced by such diverse users, with very different requirements from an audio console, says more about the potential for PRO1 than even I can.” At the PLASA show last month, Midas presented live audio specialist Britannia Row with its ‘Pushing the Boundaries’ award for Brit Row’s exemplary work during the Queen’s Jubilee Concert in June. Over 250,000 people crowded the Mall and St James’ Park to hear the event which included PRO9 and PRO2C consoles front of house and XL8, PRO9 and PRO6 consoles in monitor land. “The award was made in

recognition of Britannia Row’s design and application of the largest, most complex network of Midas consoles to date,” said Ferriday. n www.midasconsoles.com
