KMR Audio has announced the arrival of the Lisson Grove R-124, a vintage-style tube compressor. The R-124 is an evolution of a 1950s American remote-cutoff tube compressor design that was highly modified by engineers at the famous British recording studio in the early 1960s where they were used extensively on Beatles recordings. Only a handful of the units were made to the engineers’ exacting specifications. Lisson Grove has now made this design available to all, updated with additional functionality and modern conveniences. www.kmraudio.com

EUROPE SSL optimises ADR

SOLID STATE Logic (SSL) unveiled its new automatic dialogue replacement (ADR) workflow solution, ScreenSound ADR, at IBC2012. According to the company, the system is “the world’s first end-to-end solution designed to deliver faster and more efficient ADR workflow”. ScreenSound ADR combines both hardware and software into one system. Software applications provide dialogue spotting, session preparation, session control and management, and audio recording. Hardware includes the host computer, I/O and Nucleus hardware control surface. The session preparation

stage of the process is handled by SpotShot, a take logging, dialogue spotting and session

preparation tool. SpotShot features an integrated HD-capable video player with full script and annotation text overlay.

Imported scripts are

automatically turned into take lists, which can be filtered to show appearances by individual cast members or groups and to calculate word/line count. Dialogue replacement is

managed via SpotFire, which combines a ‘rehearse – record – review’ transport control panel with a customisable Take List. SpotFire relies on SSL’s Soundscape DAW as the platform for recording, editing and mixing with all track arming, transport and recording functions controlled entirely by SpotFire’s dedicated ADR interface. In addition, the system can both import and export sessions in native .ptf Pro Tools format. At IBC, SSL managing director

Anthony David commented that the company had received a great deal of interest in the new system in only a short time. n www.solidstatelogic.com
