Analogue input module offers decentralised interface for building automation
All you need to know about hazardous area lighting products from DTS
Carlo Gavazzi has extended its Dupline bus offerings for building automation, with the introduction of new decentralised analogue input modules. The new Dupline analogue module enables control systems to interface in a decentralised manner with environmental sensors in smart building systems. They can be used in conjunction with any type of environmental sensor with a 0-10V or 10K3 output. Typically, the addressable device is installed behind the environmental sensor and wired by simply looping the two-wire bus cable from sensor to sensor.
Many sensors can be networked together in this way back to a Dupline Gateway device, where all the sensor information is available to the BMS via a Modbus serial or TCP connection.
This provides a considerably simpler solution than traditional parallel wiring, where each signal needs a separate connection back to the BMS outstation. The multi-drop approach reduces the number of BMS outstations required. n

GE lighting dimmer-stabiliser reduces costs and power consumption
GE's new state-of-the-art GradiLux lighting control system reduces energy bills, emissions and operating costs in spaces that require lighting for long periods, including airports, train stations, roads, car parks and industrial facilities.
Biomass power in an easy-to-fit box
Euroheat’s Energy Cabin is a pre-fabricated biomass heating unit, which presents a cost-effective, time-saving and versatile solution for both end-users and specifiers. Built by biomass engineers at Euroheat’s HQ in
Worcestershire, the Energy Cabin is delivered complete with necessary boilers, pipe-work, accumulators and hopper; it simply needs to be plumbed in and wired up. It’s ready to go in a day, rather than the weeks it can take to put an equivalent system together on-site. Equipment is housed inside a bespoke unit, not just
a converted shipping container, which, once in-location, is regarded as a non-permanent structure. In most circumstances, therefore, it is outside of planning laws – perfect for schools, listed buildings and trading estates. Heat outputs range from 30kWs – 200kWs but multiple cabins can be fitted together for larger requirements. Due to the dramatic reduction in time spent on-site to install the biomass system, costs are reduced considerably. As Euroheat experts are responsible for the actual configuration of the wood-heating components, the Energy Cabin arrives partially commissioned and can be installed by any Euroheat approved, competent M&E operative. n

Suitable for installations from 3.5 to 45kVA, GradiLux features 100 per cent insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) technology for direct AC/AC conversion. The absence of a transformer makes it easier to integrate into lighting control systems. Each lighting phase is regulated independently and can be replaced separately, if required. GradiLux can be integrated into existing SCADA systems and features communication technology, permitting remote control and monitoring via wireless internet connection. Automatic and manual bypasses provide protection against overloading, high temperatures and malfunction, while ensuring easy maintenance. Varistors at the input and output avoid transitory overloading, while EMI filters provide protection in compliance with EMC regulations.
GradiLux is suitable for all types of lamps, except LED and those equipped with electronic ballasts.

The DTS range of lighting products for hazardous areas is covered in depth on the new Thomas & Betts website. DTS hazardous area lighting products are designed to provide superior performance, durability and value for money in many different hazardous environments including offshore and onshore oil and gas; power generating and utilities; food processing; chemical engineering; and general manufacturing facilities. These sectors are bound by global or national legislation including ATEX, and IECEx approvals. DTS lighting for Exe, Exd lighting applications are designed to comply with these standards, allowing them to be used in Zones 1, 2, 21, 22. Available alongside these lighting products is a range of emergency and escape lighting, allowing for full lighting schemes to be produced across a complete site. Full details of all the DTS ranges are provided on the website, including comprehensive technical information, part numbers, relevant compliancy certifications and product approvals. n

Easy door entry solutions from ESP
Security products supplier ESP has added to its growing access control range with the launch of EZ-TAG2 and EZ-LOCK, designed to provide compact, durable and vandal-resistant solutions for a wide variety of access control applications. EZ-TAG2 is an IP65-rated weatherproof combined access control keypad with proximity tag or PIN code activation. Users approach the keypad and enter a four-digit code or hold a personal proximity tag within a few inches to activate one of the EZ-TAG2’s two on board relays that, in turn, activate an appropriate door release in separate
controlled areas. Higher levels of security can be
obtained by requiring users to both enter a code and present a tag for authorised entry. The EZ-LOCK variant is operated by PIN code only. Both units are easily programmed locally to accept up to 1,000 specific users with varying levels of authority without the requirement of a PC connection. n

Fixwell reduces installation time by half
GE’s ElfaPlus Fixwell MCBs and RCCBs (residual current circuit breakers) are the latest additions to the ElfaPlus range and have been designed to reduce installation time to the absolute minimum.
The Fixwell system
can reduce installation time by 50 per cent compared with using a manual screwdriver, and is 30 per cent faster than an electrical screwdriver. Now it can all be done with the push of a button Fixwell
offers ‘plug and play’ tool-free installation. Thanks to the
unique design of the installation clamps, the cable is instantly and permanently fitted. The tightening of the contact screws is finally a thing of the past – even the connection of MCBs and RCCBs to each other is significantly simplified by use of a busbar that is plugged in without screws. Fixwell is compatible with the complete ElfaPlus range and has been specifically developed for the residential and commercial sector. n
