INDUSTR Y N EWS FLIR Debuts Griffin™ 824 Loginno Launches Shipping Container Security System
FLIR Systems, Inc. has unveiled the Griffin™ 824, a next-generation trace detector that performs highly-accurate explosives and narcotics threat identification via mass spectrometry. Mass Spectrometry outperforms existing technology on a variety of fronts including the most important – confidence in the results. Utilisation of mass spectrometry for trace detection greatly reduces the probability of false alarms over technologies like IMS (Ion Mobility Spectrometry). It is inherently selective, meaning performance is not affected by external factors found in operational environments. The Griffin 824 is highly accurate and will enhance safety and increase throughput in security checkpoints.
Smiths Detection & Optosecurity Offer Upgrades for Airport X-ray Scanners
Smiths Detection has signed a distribution agreement with Optosecurity to provide airports with advanced EU standard upgrades to Smiths Detection’s X-ray baggage scanners without the need to replace existing equipment or hardware. Installing the Canadian company’s
OptoScreener device to the HI-SCAN 6040i, 6046si, or 7555i models will take them to the level of EU certified LEDS (Liquid Explosives Detection System) Type C performance. Type C systems can screen multiple liquid containers simultaneously when placed outside the baggage. The requirements are due to come into force after the scheduled lifting of the current ban on liquids in hand luggage in the EU in April 2013.

The Israeli start up Loginno Logistic Innovation Ltd. has officially unveiled its patent pending solution of affordable total protection for shipping containers and air shipments. Loginno's creative and cost effective solution is the only portable device in the world offering intrusion detection from all six sides of the container and global location while being completely invisible.
“Existing technology is not all- encompassing and one cannot expect thieves to be highly discouraged to steal cargo.” says David Noy, Loginno’s VP Operations. Loginno’s solution was developed by Loginet Systems, a creative Israeli Military Systems developer, which had
the experience and
technological background to deal with the seemingly impossible constraints dictated by Loginno. “They wanted a small and portable device, they wanted it to be very rugged and reliable but cheap, to protect all 6 sides of the container, to be completely invisible and undetected, and on top of all it had to be intelligent enough to accurately
detect difficult environmental variables”. An almost impossible task but with a little creativity, and a lot of joint experience of the developers, a patent-worthy solution was found.
Loginno has been conducting trials over the past year with major multi-billion global logistics players. Successfully tested, Loginno’s unique and innovative solution has been launched into full production and the company is prepared for major orders and strategic alliances to be formed in the following months, regarding solutions for air and sea shipping.
Danish, Brazilian and Malaysian Airports Opt for ICTS X-ray Training Solution
Copenhagen Airport, an existing ICTS Eagle user, has purchased additional licences, bringing its total Eagle X-ray licences to 27, supporting the growing operation at Copenhagen and Roskilde Airports. Also in Copenhagen, Spirit Air Cargo Handling is taking the new Eagle Cargo CBT course for their training.
In Brazil, GOL have decided to implement ICTS’ web-based Eagle solution for their X-ray screeners around the country; the product will be hosted on a Microsoft ‘cloud’ server.
Meanwhile, in Malaysia,
Secure Solution, the company that provides the training for the Malaysian Airport Authority, has chosen ICTS’ Eagle X-ray course to certify and train all their airport employees. Beyond the realms of X-ray training, Changi Airport has signed a contract to deploy ICTS’ TravelDoc library at all the information desks at the airport.
