Pre-flight screening in Xinjiang. Whilst in-flight counter-strike options are prepared for, ground preventative measures are still very much part of the Chinese aviation security strategy.
event, one of the terrorists explained that their purpose had been to hijack the aircraft to an international destination and to wage "Jihad". Once overpowered by passengers
and crew, some of the hijackers started biting their tongues for self-mutilation. Two later died in hospital.
Conclusion From the above review we can see that the aviation security system in China
is constantly being challenged. To this end, the CAAC has always stressed the concept of “air counter-strike” – the ability to respond to an incident taking place in-flight with force - closely combined with “ground prevention”. In-flight security is the last line of defence for the whole aviation security system and, to some extent, it is also the most difficult link to control. But, it is a challenge that China is taking on with innovative and effective security programmes.
