Next Generation Screening – A Top Priority

Growing passenger numbers and changing security threats dictate the need for a new concept in screening.

The checkpoint can no longer be “one size fits all” with a focus on finding bad objects. The checkpoint of the future needs to look for bad people. It must be risk-based, data driven and use technology to the fullest extent. The passenger experience must improve.

The Vision The checkpoint will reinvent the security experience with:

a more focused security by screening according to risk lessening or removing the need to divest automation, making use of biometrics and passenger data, and greater efficiency through technology and streamlined processes

Working Together

IATA has developed a blueprint on how the next generation checkpoint might work. The concepts are being further refined by experts from all across the industry, including airports, airlines, regulators and manufacturers, and tested in real airport environments.

Through collaborative partnership, IATA will deliver a roadmap to take the checkpoint from vision to reality.

Towards better security, greater efficiency and an improved travel experience.
