6 JULY: LOS ANGELES Kelly Osbourne used Twitter to express her frustrations with her Delta flight to Los Angeles and to publicise the fact that an incident had resulted in her getting a black eye on board.


14 JULY: ISLAMABAD Shameen Raza was offloaded from a Pakistan International Airlines flight bound for London after she became violent on board.


17 JULY: MIAMI Police were called to meet an American Airlines flight arriving from Sao Paulo due to the behaviour of a male passenger. The man was seated in Business Class and kept bringing his children, seated with his wife in Economy, up to his section of the aircraft. He argued with the crew who tried to prevent him from doing so.


22 JULY: LONDON A member of Bahrain’s royal family was allegedly intoxicated and disorderly on board a British Airways flight preparing for departure for Manama. He was removed from the aircraft by police armed with Tasers.


23 JULY: CALGARY 7 JULY: MUMBAI


An intoxicated South African MP, a representative for Gauteng Province, is alleged to have tried to open the door of a South African Airways aircraft en route from Johannesburg to Mumbai.


8 JULY: HOUSTON An 86-year-old male passenger caused the diversion of a Spirit Airlines flight - en route from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale - to Houston due to his unruly behaviour. It was reported that he only spoke French and was becoming extremely nervous, causing him to lash out at others on board.


9 JULY: NEW YORK


Othniel Polanco, 29, allegedly groped the 18-year-old man seated next to him on a JetBlue flight from the Dominican Republic to JFK. The victim, who was asleep, awoke when he found Polanco’s hands up his shorts and hit Polanco in the face. Initially the victim was restrained but it then became clear what had happened. Polanco was charged two days later; he claimed that he had been asleep and had not realised where his hand was.


Alyson Beaudoin-Goodman, 19, claimed that the man seated next to her on an Air Canada Jazz flight from Yellowknife had sexually harassed her during the journey. Beaudoin- Goodman said she told a flight attendant who, in turn, told the man to stop talking to her which seemed to anger him further.


28 JULY: BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON A 50-year-old man on an Alaska Airlines flight from Honolulu to Bellingham allegedly started an argument with the woman seated next to him because she refused to turn off her reading light so that he could sleep.


30 JULY: SINGAPORE


An intoxicated passenger urinated in the aisle of a Jetstar flight en route from Auckland to Singapore. He was let off with a warning.


JUDGEMENTS & ARRESTS


4 JUNE: SEOUL Jo, 39, was arrested in connection with an alleged plot to carry out a cyber attack against Incheon International Airport. The South Korean authorities believe that the plot was being orchestrated by North Korea. Jo is alleged to have met with representatives of a North Korean company in Shenyang, China, in September 2009 and subsequently purchased computer gaming software in the knowledge he was dealing with agents from North Korea's Reconnaissance General Bureau and that the software was infected with malware designed to attack the airport’s computer systems and to disrupt air traffic.

12 JUNE: VIETNAM It was reported that the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority had issued a ban prohibiting Tran Thi My Anh, 40, and Hoang Van Tan, 38, from travelling on any domestic or international airlines for six months. On 6 May, Anh had argued with VietJetAIr staff and threatened to blow up the aircraft after her flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi was delayed several times; she was also fined VND2 million (US$96). In another incident, Tan had been found to be carrying a gun in his luggage on a flight with Dragon Air from Hong Kong to Hanoi.


15 JUNE: NEW YORK Nicholas Casci, 25, was arrested for allegedly attempting to board a flight from LaGuardia to Denver with a switchblade in his carry-on.


17 JUNE: LONDON HEATHROW Two men, alleged to be members of Fathers 4 Justice, were arrested at Heathrow having scaled the perimeter fence and entered the security restricted zone.


21 JUNE: HOUSTON Leonard Julius Sawyer, 33, pleaded guilty to having exposed himself multiple times on board a Continental Airlines flight en route from Los Angeles to Houston in February 2011. Sawyer is reported to have exposed himself to the woman in the window seat next to him and later to a flight attendant.


26 JUNE: NEW YORK Charges brought against Dr. Luis Fandos were dropped. Fandos had been accused of fondling a female passenger on a flight from Buenos Aires to JFK in February.

4 JUNE: NAIROBI


Seven men, believed to have links with al- Shabab, were arrested for taking photographs of planes and airport installations at Wilson Airport. They claimed to be tourists taking photographs of wildlife but their phones only had aviation-related images.


6 JUNE: BOISE A Browning Belgian .32 calibre semi-automatic and a Makarov 9mm semi- automatic were found in the carry-on baggage of a passenger about to fly to Phoenix.
