A Week in… Spain
Andalucían architecture and flamenco dance are just two of Spain’s soulful and spirited arts. Moorish, Modern & Inspirational Maximum Elevation: 3,200 ft.
Spain has imported many architectural styles – in basilicas and plazas throughout the country you’ll find Moorish arcades, French Gothic and Romanesque arches, and ornate detail of Italian Renaissance and Baroque origin. Yet Spanish artists and architects have made many marks of their own. Gaudí began the Modernism movement in Barcelona with his wildly whimsical buildings. The works of Golden Age artist Velázquez and 18th-century Goya still draw legions to Madrid’s Prado Museum. And whitewashed Andalucían villages and flower-draped balconies never fail to inspire.
