BUILDING RELATIONS

T

he BPA has embarked on a project to promote its members to those in the construction industry.

In an effort to make a wide range of stakeholders aware of the issues around the parking sector, the BPA is working directly with the publishers of UK Construction, Construction Ireland and Building Scotland magazines to produce a parking-related editorial section.

It will focus on the parking sector and the work of the British Parking Association in areas such as promotion of quality, information source, legislation, skills and qualifi cations and industry relationships, as well as the BPA’s aspirations for the future.

The content of the editorial section will be aimed at specifi ers in the public and private sectors, along with main contractors, architects, consulting engineers and quantity surveyors.

Such an editorial environment could provide BPA members with a potentially valuable opportunity to promote their company’s services, thus enhancing the feature and increasing its reader interest. If you are interested in being part of this special editorial, please contact Mathew Blackmore, sales manager for UK Construction magazine on 01257 231900 or email mat.blackmore@pro- mark.org.uk

Lester, will address the question of how quality in parking management can be improved in order to better manage and balance urban transport demand. In particular, three issues will be discussed:  Improving urban transport policies that impact on parking management: what does the EU plan in this regard? What does the science and research tell us about the way ahead?  Improving parking planning practice, with case studies from Helsinki, Finland, Ghent, Belgium, and Sweden; and  Improved operations and enforcement, with confi rmed contributions from Utrecht, Netherlands, DENCO, Greece, and the Norwegian and British Parking Associations.

This event is aimed at the main stakeholders in urban parking policies: urban and transport planners, local authority representatives, parking operators and service providers, and anyone else who sees the value of parking as a tool to manage transport. Registration for the workshop is free of charge. Register at www.polisnetwork.eu before 14 September.
