Government Forestry
Panel deliver report A largely welcomed report on the future of public and private forests in England has been delivered by the Government’s Forestry Panel. The British Mountaineering Council has since argued that proposals don’t go far enough, arguing that permissions of use for activites other than walking should be made locally. The BMC stated:”The BMC is
disappointed that the panel hasn’t grasped the full recreational importance of the forested estate. Climbing and other adventurous recreational activities are not mentioned. It is the BMC’s experience that permissive access can be removed without prior consultation.”
