A spectacular display around the Maypole
Jubilee event realises £4,400
Dear Dronfield Eye,
AS you can see, we had a wonderful time at the Jubilee Garden Party at Ramshaw Lodge.
There was red, white and blue everywhere and we lost count of all the Union Jacks around the garden.
Dance Dronfield entertained us fabulously with traditional British dances around the maypole. Dances were performed from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales and Punch and Judy was wonderfully traditionally British, as was our own Royal Scot train - the queue never died down.
The rain - so British - held off until the end of the day, after the Grand Finale when the St John Marching Band led everyone for a triumphant final march round the gardens. A wonderful day was enjoyed by all and our local St John had asked for the proceeds to go towards supporting the important work of the St John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem.
More than £4,400 was raised to help those with great visual problems there.
