a nice colour for FrenchManicure. We had to bring it in suitcases fromAmerica as nobody was selling it here. So we started this way and we fell in love with it. Everything about the brand is fantastic. The simple things are the things that work.”

How do you go aboutmarketing the salon?

“We don’t advertise and we don’t believe in discounts. I believe in giving a gift of a free treatment to regular clients than to actually give thema discount. We do get a lot of press and we have an in-house press office; we get about six or seven cuttings amonth. We have a good relationship with clients too.”

Are there any plans for the future for NevilleHair and Beauty?

“I’malways very attentive to what our clients want and need and you never know what’s around the corner. We orchestrate Pop-Up Shop evenings, collaborating with fashion brands that fit seamlessly with Neville, for example EmiliaWickstead and most recently Style Lab.”

What’s the best piece of advice you have been given for running a successful salon?

“Concentrate just on yourself, do not worry about the competition.Themore you think about themthe less you think about you. Believe in yourself.”

Withmy hands and nails looking a little worse for wear after a bout of cold and windy weather,my treatment of choice for today’s review was the new Essie Ejuvenate anti-ageingmanicure, with a polish to finish.

ManicuristAlexmetme in the reception of Neville Hair and Beauty, where she leadme to the second floor of themodern and upbeat salon and satme in themanicure area, which consisted of a wooden bench along a wall with counters inbetween each client for themanicurists’products – very different and quite quirky!

Alex began with askingme what shape and length I usually likedmy nails – quite short and square – and set to work. The treatment began with cleansing and soakingmy nails in Essie’s Hydro-Therapy Hand Revitalizer. Alex then removedmy cuticles and trimmed and filedmy nails to the right length and shape.

UsingMicrodermabrasion Hand Refiner,Alex exfoliatedmy hands before soaking themagain and applying Advanced Radiance HandTreatment tomy entire hand and wrist area.To leavemy hands hydrated, Intensive Recovery Hand Creamwas applied and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it sank in to dry skin very quickly, leaving behind no sticky feeling.

To finish the treatment,Alex chose NoMore Filmfromthe new Essie Resort collection to finish off the treatment, which looks like a dark, vampish blue in the bottle, but ismore of a deep violet once it hits the nail.

I left the salon with hands and nails that not only looked fantastic due toAlex’s expert painting skills, but felt fabulous and smooth too due to the Ejuvenatemanicure. I was also surprised to find that the Essie polish lasted for days before chipping.
