business2business Scottish 2013 dates announced

Dear Readers

June is EverymanMonth, so I’mtaking this opportuntiy to back the Institute of Cancer Research’s dedicated appeal formale cancers.

We know there are an increasing number ofmen visiting salons these days, with some reporting a 40%increase inmen’s treatments. In fact, a 122%increase in turnover inmale waxing treatments has been seen by salon chain Canelle, as they explained to DonnaTaylor whilst researching herMaleWaxing feature (page 76).

With this inmind, this issue we look at how you can improve your service to yourmale clients, especially in regard to waxing treatments. I visited a fantastic waxing boutique in Nottinghamrecently, where every wax treatment they offer to women is also available tomen. The décor is neutral throughout the reception and treatment rooms and because they specialise in waxing, I imagine the teamaren’t fazed by any request.

It is understandable that some therapistsmay shy away fromintimatemale waxing treatments but it is likely that the clientmay also be feeling a little nervous. We hope thismonth’s feature will help to calmany fears and explain how lucrativemaximising onmale waxing can be for your salon.

And I would urge you to take this opportunity to support EverymanMonth, and themany other male health orientated campaigns held to coincide with this annual event, such as Macmillan Cancer Care’s annual NationalMen’s HealthWeek.Almost 43,000men are diagnosed with a formofmale-specific cancer each year in the UK, with around 2,000 cases of testicular cancer diagnosed annually.

This is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness amongst yourmale clients and in the local community. Simply putting up a poster or making leaflets availablemay encourage a client to check themselves. You are in an enviable position where you couldmake a difference.

Best wishes

Melissa Dennis Editor
