GuildNews caught up with Angela Barbagelata-Fabes, Chairman of Carlton Beauty&Spa Ltd, to find out what she lovesmost about her work and life, and a very exciting tea party!
I ended up in the beauty industry because… Imarried into a family who owned the company. I then trained as a beauty therapist and became the company trainer before becoming Chairman of Carlton Beauty& Spa Ltd.
If I wasn’t in the beauty industry I would… Probably be working back in dentistry, which wasmy first career.
The best thing aboutmy job is… I amfortunate to be able to travel internationally withmy husband, who is Managing Director, spreading the word about Carlton Professional equipment.
An average day forme is… Extremely busy. I amChairman but, by choice, I wearmany hats and like to be involved, as I should be, in all aspects of the business fromdeveloping new products, to training, marketing and attending trade shows.
My ideal weekend would be… A city break with delicious food and good wine.
My favourite book is… I like biographies and recently enjoyed That Woman aboutWallis Simpson.
My favourite filmis… Again, I like fact-based films. The Queen was particularly good.
Themost famous person I’vemet is… I have been fortunate tomeetThe Queen at one of her tea parties.
My favourite part of the world is…
Asia. The food ismarvellous and everything and everyone is so efficient.
I could not live without… My work.
My favourite beauty treatment is... Diamond Dermabrasion is fabulous. I also enjoymassages.
My rolemodel is… Mymum; 88 and still fabulous.
I would like to be remembered as… As someone who is kind and understanding. In a business context, for being professional and for promoting education and high standards within the beauty industry.
