Founded: 1996 (bought in 2006) In-house (Owned by Activision) Location: Santa Monica, CA, USA www.treyarch.com

Once unfairly described as ‘The Call of Duty B-team’, Treyarch these days develops the CoD games Infinity Ward doesn’t. Initially it was the latter that enjoyed the most attention and praise. However, after Treyarch put Call of Duty: Black Ops out on the market, it established itself as one of the most creatively and financially thriving studios in the world. 2011 saw the Santa Monica

team move to work on the Wii edition of Modern Warfare 3, and now they are heads down crafting Black Ops II. While Infinity Ward continues to attract much of the limelight that CoD reflects, Treyarch today gets more than ever before. Not bad for a studio that was at first forced to make ports and licensed spin-offs for its publisher parent Activision.
