WSMA High School State Honors Music Project


Over 1,500 students auditioned for the 2012 WSMA High School State Honors Music Project. Congratulations to students and teach- ers for their commitment to this project and musical excellence. Regardless of the decision made by the selection committee, WSMA wishes to thank all students, parents and music teachers for taking the initiative to prepare for these highly competitive auditions.

x WSMA Middle Level State Honors Project


From La Crosse to Appleton, Eau Claire to Dousman and Wausau to Sun Prairie, over 1,200 students are scheduled for April auditions to represent their school in the 2012 WSMA Middle Level State Honors Choir, Orchestra and Band. Results of the April auditions will be reviewed by the selection committee with results letters and invitations to be mailed by June 1. Selection committee mem- bers include Doug Arndt of Grafton John Long Middle School as chair, Les Sandberg of Reedsburg will take over as chair-elect. Orchestra coordinator Tim McCollum of Marshfield will join Marcie Russell of Platteville (choir) and Chris Gleason of Sun Prairie (band). Gregg Butler continues to serve as WSMA board representative.

54 year, WSMA welcomes the newest staff members beginning their three-


The entire Middle Level State Honors staff will meet at the Wisconsin Center for Music Education in Waunakee on Friday, July 27 for its traditional summer retreat. In addition to networking with colleagues, the retreat provides an opportunity to review music, staff duties and expectations, prepare student mailings and preview the student event schedule.


Rehearsals will be held on Friday, October 26 at Waunakee High School. The Middle Level State Honors Concert will be held October 27 at the Marriott Conference Center in Madison beginning at 1 p.m.
