general music Continued from page 44
Because my students have been learning in a thinking environment, the advanced students are able to identify the issues that the inexperienced player is having and explain to them what needs to be fixed and how to fix it. Soon those new players improve and the following year, they are the leaders helping out the novices.
Have you started to develop questions you can ask your students tomorrow that will give them an opportunity to think in new ways? Start out with a few questions and see what happens. I am interested to hear about your thought-provoking questions and your students’ reactions to them. Send a message (my email address is below) and let me know what you think!
