The eastern end of SEPTA’s Route 15 streetcar on Richmond Street in Philadelphia has been shut down until 2016 for the rebuilding project of adjacent I-95. Among the improvements will be a widening of Richmond Avenue with all-new streetcar tracks, removal of the Richmond & Cumberland loop, and four new bridges for Conrail Shared Assets to access Port Richmond over Richmond Street, replacing low-clearance bridges such as the one shown above. Service has been suspended on the remainder of Route 15 for trackwork for much of the winter, but rebuilt PCC-II streetcars are expected to resume service on Girard Avenue, utilizing a new eastern-end loop at Delaware Avenue, at the end of April.
Cleveland Receives Grant for a New Station Back in the 1950s Cleveland was a bright spot in the otherwise dismal scene for rail transit in the U.S. There is not as much news from Cleveland today but what there is has been good. Recently the Regional
