Union Pacific 844 Moves Civil War Historians to Arkansas
UNION PACIFIC OPERATED THE SHILOH LIMITED between Kansas City, Kan., and Marion, Ark., in March for nearly 300 Civil War historians from the Blue-Gray Alliance who attended the 150th an- niversary of the Battle of Shiloh. The Blue-Gray Alliance and the Battle of Shiloh Association combined to re-enact the battle adjacent to the Shiloh National Military Park on March 29-April 1. UP 4-8-4 No. 844 and its support equipment left the steam team’s base in Cheyenne, Wyo., on March 22 and arrived at Council Bluffs,
Iowa, on March 23. After the passenger consist was set up at Council Bluffs the train left for Kansas City, Kan., on March 25 and arrived the next day. Passengers boarded at Kansas City on March 27 for St. Louis, Mo., and the special ran from St. Louis to Marion, Ark., on the 28th. The locomotive, carrying a special placard under the headlight and
