Seasonal (Memorial Day Weekend to late September), offers an array of runs that include the Friday to Sunday La Veta Mountaineer and the Fort Garland Limited that allow 2 hour layovers in La Veta or Fort Garland respectively to lunch on your own. Thursdays, mid-June to mid-August a steam train allows a one-hour layover in Monte Vista to eat on your own. The Mountain Rails Live music festival runs, Friday to Sunday, June through August, Alamosa to Fir, include an optional barbecue meal. Saturday evenings, Bistro Service on the Fort Garland Limited bi- level domes offers a private dining room and bar, with upscale menus for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Wednesday through Sunday a mixed train to Antonito connects with the Cumbres & Toltec and includes Club Car service offering breakfast and/or lite lunches.

On four Saturdays, June 2 through October 27, the Jeffersonian Train to Dinner operates to Tipton for dinner at the Elks Lodge. Menus vary. Note: Work restoring the exterior of the ITM’s ex- L&N dining car has resulted in the cancellation of most on-board meals for 2012, but check the website for updates on the possible resumption of service.
