own, it’s viewed as a great add-on for history lovers and keen shoppers, being so close to both the King of Prussia Mall, America’s largest retail shopping complex, and the bargain-rich Philadelphia Premium Outlets. An hour’s drive in the other

direction, Atlantic City remains mostly untried and unknown in the transatlantic tourist market although it was, in fact, settled in 1783, is considered to be America’s oldest seaside resort and was for decades the home of the annual Miss America competition, which has long since moved elsewhere to relative obscurity. Now the famous 1870 Boardwalk

is lined with shops, restaurants, seaside attractions and casinos hosting

everything from boxing matches, rodeos and circuses to live shows featuring such superstars as Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Michael Bublé. Its appeal is enhanced as the setting

for the popular and critically acclaimed TV drama Boardwalk Empire, based upon the city’s colourful lifestyle during the lawless 1920s Prohibition era.. In addition, a new $2.4 billion waterfront attraction, the Revel Resort, will hold a grand opening on May 25. Claiming to be the largest lifestyle resort on the East Coast, it will include 1,800 hotel rooms, a shopping plaza, a large casino, a luxury spa, three event/showroom spaces, multiple swimming pools and more than a dozen restaurants. Meanwhile,

the landmark Golden Nugget casino hotel has been refurbished and Caesars, another landmark resort, has been awarded the coveted four- diamond rating by the Automobile Association of America. With its 11 resort casinos

and other attractions – plus its long, sandy beach – Atlantic City is definitely a viable match for a two-centre with Philly.
