Embraer signed a concession agreement with the state of São Paulo, in a ceremony attended by Governor Geraldo Alckmin, opening the way for installing a modern service center in Bertram Luiz Leupolz (SOD) airport, in the city of Sorocaba. The company says it is taking this move in order to expand its service and support capacity for the growing fleet of currently more than 100 Embraer executive jets operating in Brazil. Embraer plans to invest $25 million during the first five years of the project and says the facility will generate up to 250 direct jobs. This, and work to be carried out at the airport by the state government, will establish Sorocaba, located 90 kilometers from the city of São Paulo, as one of the country’s executive aviation hubs. The new service center will cover 20,000 square meters, and will have a hangar five times

as large as the center located at Embraer’s headquarters, in the city of São José dos Campos. Its infrastructure includes hangars, VIP lounges, customer meeting rooms, and administrative offices, as well as facilities offering a broad range of maintenance, repair, hangaring, and FBO services, focusing on customer operational flexibility. “The global support network for Embraer’s executive jets now consists of some 60 own and authorized service centers. Brazil, as one of our main markets, deserves special attention,” said Marco Túlio Pellegrini, vice president of Operations, Embraer Executive Jets. “By the end of 2012, the flight simulator for the Phenom 100 and Phenom 300 executive jets in Brazil will be operational, improving our customer services for this exclusive segment.” Embraer says the new service center in Sorocaba will constitute, together with the company’s center in São José dos Campos and the authorized ones in Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Curitiba, and Goiânia, a services network in strategic places throughout Brazil.

Lufthansa Technik has purchased the remaining shares of the other two owners of AirLiance Materials. Prior to the buyout, Lufthansa Technik owned a majority share of the leading spare parts provider, with United Airlines and Air Canada each holding a minority share in the company. The additional equity investment gives Lufthansa Technik 100 percent equity in the venture going into 2012. “We have been an equity partner in AirLiance since its inception in 1998, and have always had the highest degree of confidence in its value propositions,” says Wilken Bormann, vice president Controlling

and Subsidiaries of Lufthansa Technik. “In AirLiance’s nearly 14 year history, the company has consistently reached its growth and profit goals, and has proven to be a viable solution in helping airlines and other air transport operators reduce their cost of ownership.” Bormann added, “We are excited about the future of AirLiance, and now with the

increased financial and strategic resources and commitment Lufthansa brings to bear as sole owner, AirLiance is in a unique position to expand its services and global reach even farther.”

Roscoe Musselwhite has been named president and CEO of AirLiance Materials,

according to Wilken Bormann, vice president Controlling and Subsidiaries of Lufthansa Technik (LHT). Mr. Musselwhite replaces outgoing CEO David Sisson, who officially retired at the end of the year. In his new position as president and CEO, Musselwhite assumes responsibility for all aspects of operations, sales and sales support for the U.S.-based spare parts provider. Musselwhite, who joined the company just four months after it opened its doors in 1998, has helped to develop the company’s customer-focused growth strategies. Prior to being named president and CEO, Musselwhite was CEO and executive vice president. His management role has increased steadily over the company’s 14-year span, starting as VP of Marketing and Sales then as executive vice president in 2000.
