What is the state of the industry? Gulfstream Product Support had a record-breaking year in 2011. In fact, in the third quarter, the Gulfstream fleet surpassed 2008 flying levels, which meant our service facilities handled record volume. To meet the increased demand worldwide, we expanded our Product Support network both in North American and outside it. In September 2011, we moved our London-Luton operation into a 75,000-square-foot hangar and accompanying office area, nearly doubling space at the site.

How is 2012 looking so far in terms of the health of the industry? Is 2012 the comeback year? We see continued growth in 2012. Gulfstream plans to deliver just over 100 large-cabin green aircraft, including about two doze G650s. The company expects mid-sized green deliveries to be around 10 to 15 aircraft, most of them the G280. Do presidential politics impact your business? Certainly, discussions in Washington regarding the use of corporate aircraft can impact our business. That said, we, like many others, continue to advocate regarding the strategic importanºce of business jets to companies large and small. Business jets offer security, flexibility and reliability.

Where is the state of the industry? We believe that industry predictions for a recovery in the North American MRO market are materializing. From Marana Aerospace Solutions’ vantage point, we have expanded our capabilities as well as our global customers in the first quarter of this year. Despite volatility in Europe and rising fuel costs, we are still forecasting growth in 2012. How is 2012 looking so far in terms of the health of the industry? Is 2012 the comeback year?

Although 2012 is ramping up, we see 2013 as the comeback year. Since we have a business model that covers an aircraft’s entire life span, we may be building momentum ahead of traditional MRO’s who could be further impacted by larger industry variables such as fuel prices and the global economy this year. Do presidential (or global) politics impact your business? Naturally, they can influence the business environment to the extent they shape the economy. How’s the regulatory environment right now? Is there any legislation coming up that might impact your business? We are analyzing the FAA Modernization & Reform Act to determine what affect, if any, it may

Where is the state of the industry? The aviation industry, and particularly the maintenance portion, is in its normal state of flux. While the design, production, operation, and maintenance of aircraft are extremely important to the international economy, it is so dependent upon the vagaries of multiple civil aviation authorities that certainty in business relationships suffers. There are many areas of growth; on a global scale, the industry is seeing expansion fueled by emerging markets. There is also a constant push for innovation. The industry is eagerly adopting new technologies that increase efficiency and improve safety. At the same time, the emphasis on safety has never been greater as increased competition rewards delivery of quality work that exceeds regulatory requirements. How is 2012 looking so far in terms of the health of the industry? Is 2012 the comeback year?


No twelve-month period is a “comeback” year; there are years and even decades that we make more money! In all seriousness, the aviation industry, including its maintenance providers, is in a position to increase income in 2012; but it will depend upon market position as well as the infrastructure and personnel investments made in past years. Companies in emerging markets will likely continue to see robust growth. However, one of the biggest challenges confronting
