Understanding content for findability and re-use
Publishers have been exploring ways to exploit their content in electronic format for over two decades. Organizations whose activity is not primarily publishing (the so-called ‘accidental publishers’) are also increasingly looking at how to get their information to their user groups more effectively. With so many people therefore involved in the act of publishing fact-based content, there seems to be a surprising lack of understanding about how to model information, and an unwillingness to take on new methods of content creation, even when the business case is clear. In this session Judi Vernau will talk about how to structure and classify your content so that it can be easily retrieved, combined and re-used in order to provide a better experience for current customers, and to exploit new opportunities for content development.
