CONTENT AGILITY THEATRE TUESDAY 28 FEBRUARY TIME SESSION TITLE
10.00 - 10.40
Fit for purpose - Developing content-rich, paid-for websites
While in some areas of publishing, notably B2B, online is well-established and highly lucrative, in others it remains a risky business. Anne Hinsley has undertaken editorial, commissioning, development and management roles on paid-for websites and provides an unvarnished guide to some of the problems a transition from print to online may cause. A deep understanding of your market, she says, will help avoid many of them, and she looks at ways of gaining customer insights and engagement.
11.10 - 11.50
Digital Governance - Achieving agility without risking damnation
The old publishers’ and editors’ battle cry used to be ‘print and be damned’. But, in truth, massive steps were taken to ensure content was factually accurate, legally robust and that the processes that ensured delivery - from print to paper boy – did not break down. Now the expansion from traditional media to online publication must establish governance protocols for digital content that are just as robust and embedded as those that have evolved for print. But while print systems and processes had centuries to evolve, digital governance needs to mature at speed, as technology evolves ever more rapidly. Anne Caborn takes a look at the flip side of the agile coin, including some of the key legal issues and their potential impact on both revenues and brand.
12.20 - 13.00
It’s all in the game
At its core gamification is all about understanding the psychology that drives participation in games. Once you know that, you can start tailoring it to your
brand. Discover how gamification can benefit your business, understand why games are so engaging and find out how you can apply it.
14.00 - 14.40
Keynote Session: Updating your content strategy for a community-driven world
With market demands and user expectations advancing at an ever increasing pace, the modern publisher needs to learn to listen. Content assets are no just longer things you commission and publish. Community-generated assets need curation and management in a new way. Have you updated your process for this new world?
15.10 - 15.50
Leveraging the full value of your content with XML
Publishing practices have changed signifigantly over the past few years. With new e-reader devices entering the market, how does an organisation cope with the increasing demand for new formats. Bret will discuss how publishers can strategically leverage the value of their information and keep up with these new demands, while at the same time discovering additional value in the content that they are already producing. Bret will cover topics such as why XML, how will my workflows be impacted, what does this mean for my current processes. The attendee will gain a basic understanding of the basic business benefits of XML as well as what it takes to get started down the XML path.
