BY LAURA GELDER This April, Prestige Holidays will run
Ethos Marketing, Serena Hotels and Kenya Airways hosted a week’s fam trip to Kenya. Patricia Woodburn from Visions of Africa was part of the group and sums up the properties they stayed in...
Nairobi Serena "A great city centre hotel close to all the amenities and with excellent food. It is ideal for a freshen-up stop over before you hit the bush!"
Sweetwaters Tented Camp "The tents were set back from a watering hole, where a giraffe was waiting to meet us, but they were raised on stilts, so very comfortable and safe, with robes and a hot water bottle. The game drives were amazing – we saw giraffe, elephants and zebra."
Serena Mountain Lodge "A natural wooden property high in the mountains overlooking Mount Kenya. A great optional wake-up service alerted you to any night-time visitors to the watering hole. The nature walk and evening information talk were not to be missed."
Lake Elmenteita "Five-star camping with four-poster beds and marble bathrooms. The complex had immaculate gardens and stunning lake views, with pelicans and flamingos on your doorstep. The communal areas were gorgeous with a comfy bar and lovely pool."
Serena Beach "Set on a white sandy beach with palm trees, it had a colonial feel to it. Ideal for people wanting to visit nearby Mombassa, but also an ideal family option, with water sports on the beach and a turtle sanctuary."
"Overall, we saw such a wide range of properties during our stay and each represented the individual style and taste of the area that they were in. They all had great food in common!"
