Toyologist plots consumer toy show


Peter Jenkinson and his new team of presenters want to bring toys back to TV screens…. by Lewis Tyler


SPYING A gap in the market for a family television show about toys, Peter Jenkinson is set to film the first episode of Toyology.TV this month. “We’re creating a broadcast quality show,” he told ToyNews. “Think Top Gear with the cars removed, a sprinkling of the sheer brilliance that is Horrible Histories humour and then add some of the factual seasoning which keeps The Gadget Show at the top of its game and you have a semblance of what we are setting out to offer.” The Toyology.TV pilot will debut online and then, based on viewership numbers and reception, Jenkinson will decide which channel to present the show to.

Now Meccano signs Rabbids


Firm signs its third video game licensing deal with Ubisoft for the popular property…. by Katie Roberts


IT’S ALREADY got Gears of War and Sonic, and now Meccano has bolstered its video games line even further with the addition of Rabbids. The deal, brokered by CPLG, will see Meccano create a range including the Rabbids’ crazy toilet complete with flushing sound effects and pullback motor, time travelling washing machine with motorised spin, a working catapult with splat mat target and surreal racing shopping trolley complete as well as a variety of figures.


Rabbids joins Gears of War


and Sonic in Meccano’s video games portfolio.


Sue Barratt, country manager, Meccano Toys UK, explained to ToyNews: “Rabbids are without doubt a quirky addition to our licensed portfolio and express wonderfully the fun aspect of creating with Meccano. Rabbids have recruited a committed


fanbase already and is set to explode on the wider consciousness with the arrival of the Rabbids cartoon worldwide in 2013.”
