Bridal Show Betty is here to share her views and review of everything bridal on TV. And maybe even find a lesson or two.

In this issue, Bridal Show Betty looks at some of the latest reality wedding shows and what you can learn from them.

Hi – I’m Betty – and I’m a bridalshow-aholic. It all started innocently enough – watching Bridezillas and Whose Wedding is it Anyway while I was planning my wedding. But I just can’t get enough! I’ve even sat through all the episodes of Bridalplasty – evidence of my problem. So, I finally found a way to justify my viewing habits. I’m writing this column for WED and rating shows for you with mini-tv’s (1-5 TV’s). But I prefer to stay anonymous – known only by my nom de plume, Bridal Show Betty.

Brides of Beverly Hills - TLC

With a concept similar to fav show “Say Yes to the Dress,” this gown selection show has one key difference: a Beverly Hills address! Based in Renee Strauss’ bridal salon, the clientele is searching the racks for top budget, couture gowns with price tags as high as $18k. The gowns are gorgeous and occasional guest appearances by Planner Kevin Lee make this one fun to watch.

Next Great Baker—TLC, Mondays 8 pm

Cake Boss Buddy Valastro takes on a new crew of hopeful bakers and puts them to the test in an effort to find the “Next Great Baker.”

In our favorite episode this season, the bakers worked in three teams to create wedding cakes inspired by the current wedding trends, including Hollywood glam and romantic vintage with the winners featured in Brides.

I love this show because it truly demonstrates the skill needed to create amazing cakes. The Bakers Challenge each week gives a glimpse of these talents and makes you appreciate what your local baker does every day.

It’s also been great to see last year’s winner Dana Herbert pop in to give the competitors some tips. You can check out cake photos online and watch Mondays at 9 p.m. on TLC to see who’ll be crowned the Next Great Baker.
