In MPM’s last article, (Plan a Beautiful Summer Bridal Shower!) she shared with you lots of ideas for starting your own collection of cool and useful cooking gadgets and appliances as well as provided an endless array of “must have’s” when stocking a brand new kitchen.


Maybe by now you’ve had your bridal shower and perhaps you’re even newly married. If so, all those lovely boxes of kitchen goodies now await your exploration. MPM could write a book about all the ways to get you cookin’, but due to space and time limitations, here are just a few tidbits to get you started.


Build a Recipe Collection


At the risk of showing her age, back in the day, MPM started her recipe collection with a very old wooden card file box filled with handwritten food-stained index cards written by her grandmother and mother. The cards were yellowed with age, with parts of recipes missing, but nevertheless, MPM treasured every one of these as they were valuable links to cooking experiences in times gone by.

cookbook collections, but rather are more likely to turn to the online world when a craving for how to make a particular food suddenly hits or we just want to browse for recipes. With a few simple clicks, you can create your own virtual recipe box as well as store your favorites for future use.


A few years back, MPM was terribly excited just to peruse any number of fabulous sites looking for everything from a recipe for the perfect cinnamon bread, to a new spice rub for grilled chicken. Fast forward to the present day where recipes are only a small part of the online food world. Now, you can Google videos for any cooking process from simply making hard-boiled eggs to preparing a complete gourmet meal! Need to know how to pair the perfect wine with your pasta? Any number of food sites will have the answer for you.


Explore the World of Food Blogs


The sky’s the limit when it comes to finding recipe and cooking blogs. Just Google your favorite food or cooking topic and instantly oodles of enticing food sites await your discovery. Have little to no experience in the kitchen? No worries, there are food blog sites just for you. Or perhaps you love to cook, but would like to learn more about different
