When looking for a nail training course, consider your current commitments as a therapist as well as any out of work obligations youmay have, such as family, says Tara Oldham, Head of Education for Lena White Ltd / OPI. "Formany students training has to take place around an existing job or commitments; so are the course dates set, do they allow you to take the necessary time off of work? If you have children, do you need child care or does the training fit in around school times?"
However it's easy to find excuses as to why post-graduate training is not for you - but don't! This is important not only for the business you work in, but for you personally. "Do not give yourself excuses like: 'It's too far' or 'It's too expensive', or worst of all 'I'mtoo busy'," says René. "Make time, save up, organise travel and ask a friend to come too if you are nervous on your own. The benefits of continued training with products and treatments far outweigh any problems youmay have getting yourself or your staff there.You will be surprised howmuch you will enjoy a day out."

Majority of nail courses, whether they be formanicure, pedicure, Acrylic or Gel enhancements will include a kit of some form, although some will require you to purchase this separately.
She adds: "Make sure that you can do your training course without compromising your current commitments toomuch. If you burden yourself by undertaking a training course that is difficult to fit around your lifestyle you will struggle to concentrate fully and give your course the time and commitment that is required to pass it."
These are usually smaller versions of professional kits and should include everything you will need to get familiar with a treatment technique. Look for kits that include enough product to enable you to practice properly away fromthe classroom, on friends, family and willing clients as this is the only way you will become fully competent and confident. Don't feel pressured into purchasing a full professional kit before you have qualified - your starter / training kit should be adequate until you begin offering treatments in the salon when you can invest in the full range.
Your kit should not only include the products you will require but also key equipment such as brushes, files, Dappen dishes and nail forms
etc.Astarter kit should be just that - a kit that features everything needed to get started.
