Ultrasound technology, when used in a certain way, causes bubbles to formwithin the chosen area of the body. When these bubbles collapse they give off a shockwave which temporarily changes the fat cell walls, allowing the body’s lymphatic systemto get rid of the fat naturally.

Alternatively, Ultrasonic sound waves combined with radiofrequency will permanently destroy fat cells, reducing localised fatty deposits, body circumference and tighten skin.

Multi-channel radio frequency combined with vacuumtherapy is another treatment option, which initiates deep tissue heating, mechanical stretch andmechanical massage, which not only increases oxygen relased by blood cells and increases cellmetabolism, but also breaks down rigid collagen cross- links, increases skin elasticity and improves skin texture. Stored energy in the fat cells is broken down, and when released, fat cell volume has been shrunk.

Systems using vacuumtherapy often feature a cup adaptor which is glided over the troublesome area creating differing degrees of suction, creating a sub-dermal massage to the connective tissue and fat globules. Stretching the fibrous bands, fat is released from the tight connective tissue and toxins are expelled.

An alternative treatment is laser lipolysis, aminimally invasive way of removing small, localised fat deposits andmarketed as an alternative to liposuction. Low-level laser energy selectively breaks up the fat cells and transforms them into a substance that the body eliminates naturally, as the client undertakes a period of post- treatment exercise to increase the metabolism. This treatments works best on smaller areas such as lovehandles, double chin, thighs etc.

Vibration nation

One of the biggest things to hit salons in the last year or so when it comes to toning legs, tums and bums (and everywhere else!) is the concept of the vibration plate. And it’s no surprise with celebrities also claiming that the vibrating platform has transformed their bodies for the better.

Just 10minutes on thesemiracle machines can have just about the same effect as an hour in the gym (and we know which we would rather choose given the choice!). The plates work by sending rapid vibrations to themuscles, causing themto stretch, flex and relax, burning calories whilst also toning at the same time. And for those who aren’t dead set against a small amount of exercise, clients can change their position on the platformto work anothermuscle group.

With something so amazing sounding as this, it’s without any doubt that people, andmaybe you too, are going to doubt whether a difference can actually bemade. But a study in 2009 by the University ofAntwerp and the Artesis University College in Belgiumshowed that yes, it really can work. The study included two groups of obese women. Both groups ate the same nutritious diet, but one group exercised regularly using a vibration plate and the other group using conventional exercise methods. Results showed that those women using the vibration plate to aid their exercise regime lostmore weight.

Natural touch

In-salon treatments don’t always have to feature high-techmachines, as excellent results can be achieved using traditional body treatments, such as wraps andmassage. Many of the top skin care brands offer treatment protocols using

scientifically created topical applications to stimulate lipolysis, inhibit lipogenesis and adipogenesis, and improve the appearance of stretchmarks and the appearance of uneven, orange-peel skin. leaving skin toned and smoothed.

Body wrap treatments often utilise natural ingredients such as seaweed, Dead Seamud clay, and natural

herbs and spices. These are usually applied to the skin by either soaking bandages before wrapping the client, or applying direct onto the client’s body before cocooning them.

So with a wide range of easy treatments available there’s no need for your client to ever fall off the wagon again when it comes to achieving a beautiful body.
