Masters Picking
Up The Pace 2011 has been a big year for growth, particularly among the prestigious Master Installation Technicians.
In May, MECP announced it had reached 200 currently certified MECP Master technicians at one
time. What first took MECP 17 years to achieve since its inception in 1991 — the goal of having 100 Master certified technicians at one time — finally happened in late December of 2008. A mere two and a half years later MECP doubled that achievement, reaching 200 Masters. Tat’s a major indication of the dedication and commitment many of the industry’s hard-working technicians have to elevate their knowledge and consumer perception of what career-minded installation technicians really do. As of November, MECP had 218 Master technicians with current credentials. At this pace, when will
the industry see 300 Master certified technicians at one time? Are you going to be one of them? What are your career goals for 2012?
FEMALE MECP MASTERS Tis year marked a huge accomplishment for three of the industry’s female installation technicians
who achieved MECP Master certification. Tere are more and more females in the installation bays these days, and some of them are throwing the boys a little competitive jab or two. While MECP has had a few previous female Masters, there was never more than one at a time. In 2011, these three ladies gained MECP Master status:
• Dara Degrand (Texas) • Brittney Parker (South Carolina) • Brooke Wilson (Ohio)
MECP also has several female Basic and Advanced Installation Technician credential holders as well.
MECP MASTER TECHNICIAN DINNER Te 2011 MECP Master Technician Dinner was held Nov. 2 in Las Vegas during the SEMA Show. It’s an annual dinner hosted by MECP to thank the technicians who have reached the Master level and
