Veteran Installer Todd Crowther Passes Away at 42 Todd G. Crowther, a well-known installer in the Boston area, passed away Nov. 9 from health com- plications. He was 42 and leaves behind a son. Todd Crowther was born in Quincy, Mass., and was raised and educated in Brockton, where he lived most of his life. Before he died, the avid sports fan sold and installed car stereos for Driver Side in Wrentham. He previously worked for Boston Audio and Circuit City. At one point he also owned and operated his own business. Jon Dewar of Providence, R. I.-based Sound FX praised Crowther for his commitment to the 12-volt industry and his passion for sound. Dewar said Crowther was known as the “big player in the IASCA world” and for his competitive streak. Crowther was buried at Calvary Cemetery in Brockton. Donations in Todd’s memory can be made to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Development Office 116 Huntington Ave., 5th Floor Boston, MA 02116, or online at

Geo-tag Computer Helps Deputies Find Drugs Tossed
During Pursuit The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is apparently starting to see results from its $33 million venture with Raytheon, which integrates hardware and software from Penske, Geo-Spacial Technologies and Panasonic. On a December pursuit of an alleged meth dealer in north L.A. County, deputies deployed their
newly rolled out Mobile Digital Computer System to precisely locate where a suspect in a high- speed chase allegedly tossed out methamphetamine powder. The 35-year-old suspect was driving his 2010 Scion X-8 when deputies attempted to pull him over and he took off. Mohammed Kadri was arrested on suspicion of committing several felonies and a judge set his bail at $320,000. “Without geo-tagging, when deputies are engaged in the tough job of a pursuit, they have to explain over the radio to assisting deputies the approximate location where they can find tossed evidence,” said Captain Scott Edson, from the Sheriff’s Communications and Fleet Management Bureau, which implemented the technology. “Often, the description narrows the area to about
one-eighths of mile but it might take a search party to find it. Now with geo-tagging, a deputy with the in-car geo-tagged map goes right to the pin-pointed spot. It saves a lot of valuable patrol time, and, when looking for drugs or guns, expedites finding objects that could harm a child who may otherwise have found it.”
