LE: Yes, for me when I choreograph I always tell myself that “Dance is what music is supposed to look like”, and I also believe that using your whole body really enhances choreography and provides for entertaining dance for watching audiences. On the parts in Soul Food that arms were used, that is EXACTLY what the music was saying to me. That was the only way this song could come to life as a Line dance in my heart. LS: I have seen some footage of Soul
Food danced while Fantasia is singing. How did that happen? Did you know the artist? LE: Actually no, I never new Fantasia before Soul Food. I was contacted by her management after the dance went viral on the internet. As anyone can imagine, I was amazed that something that I had created actually reached the artist with no effort from me. I met Fantasia and her management a few months after the release of Soul Food and have since danced with her, and will be working with her on future projects, I hope.
LS: How do you choose your music? What is your inspiration? LE: I choose my music by putting my
Ipod on Shuffl e. I’m often surprised by a song with a great beat, and I begin to imagine what a dance would look like to that music.

LS: So would you say that Soul Food has opened more doors for you…. LE: Defi nitely….Soul Food has opened some amazing doors for me as I am now requested to teach workshops all over the world, and am thankful for all of these opportunities. The association
Hip Hop Dance Classes at my studio (goLo Dance Lab) during the week and on weekends. I teach many workshops and dance classes at dance studios, universities, churches etc. I also have a dance company that is actively performing on a monthly basis, I choreograph all of the company’s shows and showcases. I’m currently working with about fi ve music artists on stage/live performances and music videos. I also work with dance groups on competition routines as I used to in college. Dance defi nitely keeps me busy these days! LS: Your achievements are truly amazing and for many, Soul Food has opened a bit of a new window really.
