What a weekend … I’m still recovering!

On September 23rd to 25th 2011, at The Gleneagle Hotel Killarney in County Kerry, Ireland, we had over 150 Line dancers booked into the hotel and 30-40 night visitors for the weekend.

We had the presentation of the Crystal

Star Award for the best Line dance by an Irish choreographer 2011 on the Saturday night. That was Jerry Martin from the Barrow Liners in Carlow for his dance ‘Lovers Fire’.

We had a German group of 28 join us

this year and they shared some great dances with us. It was just fantastic. The Friday night dancing was from

Europe and the USA for workshops, weekends and socials, meeting lots of great dancers and teachers. I’ve also made lots of new friends and this has been one of the main attractions for me as a Line dancer but lately, I thought that something was needed to share information to Line dancers not only in Ireland but around the world, other than the usual word of mouth emails fliers etc. So four years ago I set up

www.LineDanceIreland.ie and so far the feedback has been very positive, it has opened up Line dancing in Ireland to the world. Seventeen years on I still love it and

even though I also teach Belly Dance and Zumba dance, Line dancing is still my first love.

nine pm until the early hours of Saturday morning. The theme was ‘Club Night’ and everyone got to wear their club shirt/t-shirt with pride, we celebrated Mr Paddy Tully’s 77th birthday with a cake and a song.

The Sunday morning recap workshop

was from 12pm and I have to say everyone had a ball, late, late into the night! I just have one regret…one year is way too long a time until the next one! Thanks everybody …. Keep in touch, keep in Line and keep on dancing. Helen Conroy Noonan & Pat Noonan,

The Saturday morning workshop

was from 11am until one pm where four teachers from Ireland taught us a variety of dances and the evening theme was dress to impress.
