Levy yield branded ‘inadequate’
T
he Horsemen’s Group has professed it- self ‘disappointed’ with the yield pro- jections for the 51st Levy Scheme agreed by the Levy Board. It considers the forecast yield of £72.4m inadequate to prevent the continuing demise in the quality of the sport, releasing only an additional £5m into the prize-money fund. Chairman of the Horsemen’s Group Paul Dixon said: “Whilst the principle of bookmakers underwriting the Levy yield is welcomed, the level at which it is under- written is inadequate. Bearing in mind the poor record of ac- curate forecasting of the Levy yield, the Horsemen’s Group is con- cerned that it will not reach the fore- cast £72.4m and this will cause even greater pressure on the funding of the sport.”

IJF not waiting for fixtures
T
he Injured Jockeys Fundhas been printing its calendars and diaries in ad-
vance of theBHA releasing the 2012 fix- ture list in order to help reduce the effect the delay has had on their much needed Christmas sales. Lisa Hancock, chief ex- ecutive of the IJF, commented: “Calendars and diaries are crucial to us in raising funds in the run up to Christmas and the fixture list delay has already adversely af- fected sales on the racecourses and via mail order. We see this as the only way to minimise the loss of these vital funds.” The IJF Calendars and Diaries will in- clude all the UK and international race meetings and be as accurate as possible at the time of going to print. A printable ver- sion of the final list will be on the IJF web- site.
