Turf TV revamps trading conditions L


BO broadcaster Turf TVhas an- nounced ‘a significant revision’ to the way it trades from the new year with a transformation


of its ratecard, increased estate flexibility and a phased removal of loyalty discounts. The changes will apply to all customers when they renew Turf TV contracts from 1 January 2012. For clarity, existing terms and conditions will continue to govern cus- tomers in the interim period leading up to the expiry of their current contract term. The base fee for the standard Turf TV service fee will be £7,380 in 2012 and rise to £7,600 in 2013 - this applies to customers on both existing and new trading terms. A single outlet operator that renews a con- tract after 31 December 2011 will receive a special annual rebate of £250. For all contract renewals from 31 De- cember 2011, the current ‘whole estate’ policy will be the subject of some relax- ation, with smaller estates of 1-9 betting

An abandonment rebate will apply to all customers above a threshold of 7.5 per cent of annual BHA fixtures. The discre- tionary loyalty discounts for LBOs who sub- scribed to Turf TV in either 2007 or 2008 will be phased out for all customers over the next two years, with the discounts halved in 2012 and removed completely in 2013. In a letter written to customers detailing the changes, Turf TV sales director Michael Conlon said: “I hope the headlines alleviate some of your fears and whilst a price in- crease is difficult in these present times, it has been kept to a minimum - below a cur-


rent CPI of 5.2 per cent for 2012 and at 3 per cent for 2013. Further, our new trading poli- cy includes a number of changes, in partic- ular a relaxation of our of whole estate poli- cy, which have been offered in response to the concerns of our customers and as such should assist your business.” Turf TV’s new approach also sees the average price per LBO change incremen- tally as businesses move from one Tariff Band to the next, which produces a blend- ed average price per LBO for estates with 11 or more outlets. For example, an opera- tor with 25 outlets taking Turf TV through- out their entire estate will pay the first 10 shops at £7,380 and the remaining 15 shops at £7,250, providing a blended rate 25 shops at £7,302.
