KANSAS RUSH U18 GIRLS TRAVELING THE WORLD

The Kansas Rush U18 girl’s team coached by Daouda Kante will be heading to Mali, Africa, in February 2012 for a trip of a lifetime.

Daouda Kante, Technical Director for Kansas Rush, is taking

his U18 girls Nike team to his homeland of Mali, West Africa. Daouda has coached this team for the last four years and is very excited about taking the girls and showing them the way of life in a small African country. The trip will run from February 8-20th and will consist of many different activities while they are visiting the place where their coach grew up. On this trip, the girls will have the opportunity to volunteer in local schools and hospitals and work with the youth of Mali as well as train and play in a local soccer tournament during this trip. The girls and chaperons will be staying in a large villa but will also have the opportunity to go around and see smaller villages and the way the people of Mali live on a day-to-day basis. The team will be bringing Rush soccer gear as well as other items to give to the youth and their parents as a thank you for allowing them to come into their world and experience a trip of a lifetime.

The girls will be hosting a golf tournament October 4th to help

raise money for their trip as well and did work at our Kansas Rush Autumn Festival tournament selling concessions. This team is made up of girls from all over the Kansas City Metropolitan area and most all of them are heading to college and continuing their soccer careers. Please help Kansas Rush wish the girls a great learning experience as they head off on their journey to Africa and continued success as they venture into college.

INAUGURAL ACADEMY PLAYERS TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Two years ago began the development of the Kentucky Rush Soccer Academy. With hopes of seeing young players mature the Rush Way, the first academy gradu- ates have started a tradition that promises a bright future ahead for Kentucky Rush.

This fall marks the first season in which Rush Academy graduates have advanced to playing on Rush competitive teams. With the focus of the Rush Academy being solely on technical development, we are now seeing a bright young group of players who are confident in their technique and motivated to set a new standard for Kentucky Rush Soccer Club. New to competition, the 01’ Nike Rush Team played in their

first ever club tournament early this month, tying two matches and losing their final game in the last minutes to the eventual champion. Joe Adams, Technical Director for Kentucky Rush, is coaching the group and made it clear after the tournament that he was tremendously pleased with the performance. “Results will come,” he said. “What we saw out there this weekend was hard working, passionate players who want to succeed. It was more

than just a tournament of mixed results. Their style was fast paced and technical, a direct result of what we are instilling in our entire Academy program.” With the Rush Academy in only its second year, it is a very

positive start to a new Kentucky Rush Soccer Club. This group is the first of many teams who will have graduated from the Academy possessing the technical ability and the work ethic to reach for their goals. A special thanks goes out to Ron Horn, Brad Howard, Jeff and Deneen Wittlinger, and Joe Adams who have all worked together to see the Rush Academy grow into a positive and challenging environment. A promising future awaits the Kentucky Rush kids working hard today.
