COLORADO RUSH
COLORADO RUSH WOMEN THRIVE IN THE USL W-LEAGUE
Exceptional competitive women’s soccer lives in the USL W-League, USL's highest level of women’s soccer in the US and Canada. The 2011 campaign featured a 27- team format in four conferences playing 12 or 14 regular season matches.
Top women’s players from throughout the world compete in
the USL W-League during the summer months. In addition to the league featuring international and former professional stars, elite collegiate players also have the opportunity to compete in the league while maintaining their collegiate eligibility. The league is recognized throughout the world for providing elite competition for women’s players. The Colorado Rush enters its third season in the W-League in
2012 and the team’s fan base has increased each year due to the exciting high level of soccer. The team is comprised of a balance between current and ex-college players as well as Rush’s top youth players. Player development is a huge component to the philosophy behind the team. The youth players contributed quite well throughout their second season. They may be young, but they play like women!
One of the youngest players in the country playing in the
W-League, Lindsey Horan, led the Colorado Rush W-League team to a 6-5-3 record in their sophomore season. Horan, 17, was the leading scorer for Rush though only playing in 10 of the 14 games, averaging just under a goal a game. It was more than her scoring tallies that garnered national attention, however. Her style and flair, as well as the class of some of the goals she scored were impossible not to notice. Lindsey is the youngest player named to the W-League First 11. She was also the only player in the country who was a finalist (final three) for both Rookie of the Year as well as League MVP.

FL RUSH 93 NIKE BOYS EARN CLUB’S FIRST BIRTH TO USYS NATIONALS
A clutch goal in the 90th minute of the Region III final sealed the 2-1 win for the FL Rush 93 Nike Boys, en- abling them to bring home the first ever USYS Regional Championship Cup for a Rush expansion club. This great honor also placed them in the USYS National Tournament, held in Phoenix, AZ this past July. This was a summer to remember for one of Florida Rush’s
premier groups of young men. Much has already been said about them but their achievements continue to mount. Head coach Nate Omodt sums it up by saying, “This is a special group of kids who have literally gone the extra mile in pursuit of their goals and are willing to do whatever it takes to find a way to win.” This summer alone, their accomplishments were many. Forward
Jean Rivaroli was named MVP of the Region III Championship. He was the tournament’s leading scorer with seven goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Juan Fajardo was awarded the Golden Glove of the Region III Championship for allowing just three goals in six games. Five players were recognized in June by TopDrawerSoccer. com as players to watch in Florida: Jean Rivaroli, forward; Juan Fajardo, goalkeeper; Felipe Oliveira, forward/midfield, Adam Tran, midfield; Jose Belalcazar, defender. During the National
R4
Tournament Felipe Oliveira was named to USYS National "Elite 11".
Richie Gray, President of the Florida Rush stated: “Making Nationals is an accomplishment we’re extremely proud of. Even though we didn't get the results we hoped for, it was a great experience. Our goal is to return again next year.” This season the team is playing in the Region III PL and the
USYS National League. They can also be seen at the Disney Showcase and the Dallas Cup. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS: Event name: 2012 Nike Champions Cup Event location: Central Florida Event date(s): May 19-20 Event contact info:
