A NOTE FROM TIM SETBACKS


Players, parents, coaches and staff, you must persevere. The journey to a lofty goal is sure to bring


hardship. Any large-scale project that you set out to accomplish, rest assured, is going to have setbacks. In fact, I think there are more setbacks than victories. Take, for example, the Rush Soccer Club. Have a look at a few highlights as of where we stand today.


• We are in 26 states in the USA. • We are in five continents: Africa, Asia, Australia, North America and South America. • Our budget doubled in size from 2010 to 2012. • We are the largest club in the world. • We have won more national championships than any club in history. • We opened up a Rush Apparel Store, Rush Travel and Rush Trophies & Awards.

• We secured another national sponsor, Allstate, valued at 1.2 million dollars Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. But do you realize the pain and suffering that we endured? Do you realize how many hundreds of setbacks just in 2011 alone? Doors closed, long hours, quiet relaxing nights at home sacrificed, grants rejected, clubs pulling out, lawsuits, embezzlement, crimes…these are some horrible things.


Our aim is to be one of the most recognized football brands in the world. Does our staff comprehend that? Do our partners think about that often? Are we prepared to endure hundreds of more setbacks?


Still my favorite Rush Core Value: Tenacity: To be successful, persevere…. persevere but do not be anxious. Fear no one. Be strong and courageous. Work when no one is looking, even when the circumstances are not right and everyone else quits. Diligence never loses because it never quits. Out work your opponent, and most importantly, work smart. Don’t wait for external inspiration. The people who go far do so because they motivate themselves and give life their best, regardless of how they feel.
