Outstanding Electrically Insulative Epoxy for Bonding and Sealing

Rugged Miniature Block Photoelectric Sensors

T rugged,

he Balluff BOS Q08M series of miniature photoelectric sensors stand out with their block-style metal housing and their

compact size. They are ideal wherever components with light weight, small footprint and the highest switching precision are demanded, such as on robot gripper arms and mini-grippers. New in this mini- opto family are a laser through-beam model and a fixed-focus version. With a Class 1 rating, the laser through-beam sensor reliably detects even the smallest parts down to 0.28 mm, making it the right choice for demanding positioning tasks. The sensor features a tightly bundled laser beam and a working range of up to 3 metres. The new FixFocus version is based on the newest pinpoint technology and is especially easy to place in service with its sensing range fixed at 50 mm.

Multi Channel Lubro air pressure regulator N

orbar Torque Tools has launched a new Multi Channel Lubro for regulating air pressure when using pneumatic torque multipliers and other pneumatic tools. This device allows the operator to undertake multiple applications without having to continually refer back to air pressure graphs and without then manually adjusting the pressure setting. Up to 15 programmable channels are available for multiple applications and settings are protected by supervisor key control. A useful write-on label located on the front of the Multi Channel Lubro can record up to 15 air pressures in psi/bar together with job references and torque measurement settings in Newton metres. These features ensure consistency when different operators have set a particular pressure. The Norbar Multi Channel Lubro can be operated from mains or battery.

Pet food company set to save

£26,000 per year enter 824

BB high efficiency IE3 class motors are to save a manufacturer of high quality pet foods £26,000 on energy costs for a new odour control facility. Jim Whittaker, Engineering Director of Golden Acres, explains how he came to recommend ABB IE3 motors for the fans: “Our fan suppliers Halifax Fan originally offered standard efficiency motors. With an energy usage of 908 kW, the total running cost per year would be £411,860. “We were keen to save as much energy as possible, so Halifax Fan requoted to include ABB IE3 motors. The higher efficiency of the IE3 motors gave a lower energy usage of 851 kW, producing a total running cost per year of £386,013, a saving of nearly £26,000 a year over the standard efficiency solution. “Another factor in favour of IE3 motors is that ABB motors have a much higher build quality and therefore greater service life than standard motors, in addition to being eligible for the Enhanced Capital Allowance,” says Whittaker.
