Products Editor’s Choice Low price protection relays

P&B Protection Relays, part of the PBSI Group, has introduced a new range of protection relays aimed at delivering sophisti- cated control at a low price. The MPR3000, MPC3000 and Vision3000 are the new models replacing the MPR2000 and MPC2000(D) relays. The new relays deploy technology from P&B Relays’ Vision range to provide protection relays for both low and medium voltage switchgear.

The new design includes a graphical LCD display which pro- vides a clear menu structure with a display that charts and records the energising current during a motor start. The 3000 range is directly pin for pin compatible with the

previous 2000 relay hardware, so direct replacement is eco- nomic and immediate. The existing lid mounted reset push- button will align with the new relay and act as a metered data scroll prompt.

Using the technology from the Vision relays means the new 3000 shares design characteristics and benefits from the same production and testing processes. This allows the user to instantly inherit all of the new features of a modern P&B relay. One of the core design features is a modular PCB layout that lends itself to the shortened withdrawable case format as well as improving future serviceability of the relay. To simplify the variety of device options, the 3000 RTD inputs have been fixed as standard to five inputs. The digital inputs are wide ranging and auto-sensing. The PSU can either be ranged for operation at 80-265V AC or DC or an LV type can be fitted for voltages between 18-65V AC/DC. As with the 2000, the

secondary CT connection rating should be specified as either 1A or 5A.

The 3000 relay hardware consists of four programmable out-

put relays with changeover contacts, five fixed digital inputs (on the MPR3000) or 19 fixed digital inputs (on the MPC3000 and Vision3000), five pushbuttons to navigate the menu driven LCD screen, nine colour LEDs for indication and status, a front mounted RS232 port and a rear mounted RS485 port for Modbus RTU or P&B Protocol. Enter 232 Ri4 Power - flexible and modular

Rittal’s Ri4Power, Form 1-4, offers an economic approach to low voltage switchgear require- ments with easy planning, simple handling, quick installa- tion and a high degree of modu- larity. Ri4Power, Form 1-4, allows switchgear manufacturers to fabricate every known form of internal subdivision from one single set of modules. Units for very different needs and applica- tions can be made with one and the same component.

For switchgear manufacturers, RiLine60 is a compact busbar system with component and connection adaptors that offers a solution for up to 1,600A for power distribution at the lower distribution level. Maxi-PLS

provides a compact busbar system of 1,000-4,000A that cuts installation time, and the Flat- PLS is a rugged busbar system for currents up to 5,500A, based on flat copper bars, meeting maximum requirements with its high short circuit resistance. TS 8 enclosures form the plat- form of Ri4Power, with their range of dimensions and expand- ability offering a flexible solution - door heights are available from 150mm to 2,000mm. The divided enclosure interior allows the internal space to be adapted to the specific requirements of the function related switchgear. Available as flat pack or assem- bled as steel work and copper, Ri4Power provides a flexible approach to motor control cen- tres/distribution boards. It is also possible to plan and configure the various combina- tions quickly and easily, with the aid of Rittal’s Power Engineering software Version 5.0. With the assistance of the integrated assembly planning tool, individ- ual assembly plans can be drawn up for each enclosure field. From these, the switchgear manufac- turer can assign the different components quickly and perform assembly smoothly. Rittal www.rittal.co.uk T: 01709 704 000

With the aim of resolving mains electricity problems without resorting to the use of a battery, Zigor (UK) has launched a ‘long life’ uninterruptible power supply (UPS).

Using online double conversion high frequency technology, the new Zigor Volga Plus series con- tinuously monitors the power supply and enables it to remove distortions and provide clean, safe and more efficient energy. Available in 1kVA, 2kVA, 3kVA,

6kVA and 10kVA nominal power in a tower configuration, the UPS is suitable for a variety of applica- tions including telecommunica- tions, server protection, data centres, networking and industrial uses. The communications inter- face and software included allows users to view the status of the device and provides information on its environment. Zigor (UK) www.zigor.com T: 08448 546 264

Borri has launched its latest range of high efficiency, compact uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). With a wide voltage win- dow and increased service life of integral batteries, this tower-based UPS range is able to achieve a small footprint by elimi- nating the need for external battery cabi- nets, meaning it is well suited for a variety of industry applications where space is lim- ited i.e. hospitals and IT environments. Using Borri’s online double conversion topology, the new B500 6-10kVA and B500EVO 10kVA and 20kVA series have been designed as an easy parallel UPS solution, where up to four B500s can be connected in parallel as and when required. The B500 series can achieve protection levels of up to 96%, with further efficien- cy levels being achieved at the rectifier stage, where the B500 has been designed to provide a unity power factor and Input Total Harmonic Distortion (THDi) at a maximum of five percent, eliminating the need to oversize input cables and switchgear and making the

frequency converter, comes with an internal charger allowing for reliable back-up times of up to eight hours with a six hour recovery time. Other features include an upgraded LCD display, which allows users to remotely manage the UPS, an integrated static and integral bypass switch as stan- dard, with zero transfer time between inverter and bypass, and a built-in smart slot for the option of programmable relay alarm cards, SNMP communication or RS485 MODBUS connection. As standard the B500 has USB and RS232 serial communication for connec- tion to a local server, a programmable dry relay contact, an EPO facility and a connec- tion for interlocking with an external bypass switch. The product comes with free moni- toring and shutdown software which is suit- able for the majority of operating systems. The B500EVO UPS 10kVA and 20kVA have been developed to allow for inter- changeable 3-phase or single-phase input to be applied to the UPS, allowing users to assess the electrical supply required should it need to be upgraded or balanced. With only front access for battery

replacement, the B500EVO can be posi- tioned with other equipment adjacent, enabling users to get the most out of their available floor space. Borri www.borri.co.uk T: 01246 431431
