Products Enclosures New range for OEM equipment
A new range of instrument enclosures has been launched by METCASE, the metal enclosures division of OKW. The UNIMET-PLUS series has been designed for test and measurement equipment, medical and wellness tech- nology, industrial control, interfaces, peripherals, communications and labo- ratory equipment.
Similar in size to the UNIMET series, the UNIMET PLUS has a new internal design and assembly technique. Due to customer demand, the UNIMET-PLUS series has an internal chassis which incorporates four horizontal guide posi- tions for slide-in PCBs, rather than sim- ple mounting holes in the base panel
for the PCB. Whereas the UNIMET series was designed for single board electronics equipment, the new UNIMET-PLUS range is designed for multiple PCBs which are fitted to the internal chassis plates using the four snap-in polyamide guides sup- plied. Additional guide positions and guides can be specified on demand. The UNIMET-PLUS range is available in six standard sizes with external dimen- sions from 50 x 230 x 193mm to 150 x 350 x 263mm. The all aluminium con- struction consists of a base panel assem- bly with two chassis plates and snap-in guides, top cover, front and rear die-cast bezels and a removable rear panel. The bezels are powder painted in window grey, RAL 7040, and the case body is in light grey, RAL 7035. UNIMET-PLUS has no visible fixings on the case body, and the removable rear panel is also recessed and is well suited for mounting power inlets, con- nectors and on/off switches. Four self- adhesive non-slip feet are also included in the kit. Moulded ABS tilt feet are also offered as accessories.
METCASE offers a full customising ser- vice on the UNIMET-PLUS enclosures with bespoke sizes, CNC punching, milling and drilling and silk screen printing. METCASE

Enter 204 Type 4 series gets expanded
Four new 18” deep models have been added to Pentair’s Hoffman Two-Door, Floor-Mount Type 4 Enclosures. The addition of the new models means the line now provides solutions for a wider range of applications. Featuring a UL Type 4 rating, the enclosures are well suited for use in indoor or out- door environments where it is necessary to protect controls and instrumentation from wet, potentially corrosive environ- ments. The A4L3 enclosures utilise the Hoffman POWER- GLID Handle with three-point latching for secure closure. The latching system provides sufficient compression to meet UL Type 4 requirements with- out the use of quarter-turn latching, offering security as well as easy and quick access. The four new models are available in the following sizes - 62.06 x 48.06 x 18.06”, 62.06 x 60.06 x 18.06”, 74.06 x 60.06 x 18.06”, and 74.06 x
72.06 x 18.06”.
Additional features of the A4L3 enclosures include a flange trough collar around the door opening to exclude liq- uids and contaminants, plus a removable centre post that permits easy back panel instal- lation. Modification and cus- tomisation options are also available on request. Pentair Technical Products

EMC screening options
Vero Technologies are offering a range of lightweight standard plas- tic enclosures that are available in different styles and sizes to help reduce time and cost to market for new projects.
Complex shapes and features can also be incorporated into the design and the range can also be modified to accept displays, switches, connectors and other hardware. However, if radiation emitted by the housed electronics or their susceptibility to external fields is a potential problem, moulded enclosures offer no inherent attenuation to the passage of electromagnetic fields. To provide screening, Vero
Technologies offers three alterna- tive internal coatings that provide varying levels of attenuation to suit
different applications. For less demanding commercial applica- tions, the lowest cost 50 micron nickel coating provides attenua- tion of 50dB at 1GHz. The default coating is a 10 or 20 micron silver coated copper particle coating, which typically attenuates by 78dB at 10GHz. The highest atten- uation is achieved using a 22.5 micron silver coating, which gives in excess of 80dB at 1.5GHz. For highly specialised applications, other coatings are available. A tongue and groove structure between the mating halves of an enclosure forms a complex path, improving the attenuation perfor- mance. Removable end panels are secured into an interference fit slot or, if fixings are used, a conductive gasket should be fitted to the mating surface. The rear face of plastic panels will have to be conductively coated, or if aluminium panels are used, the front surface will nor- mally be anodised and the rear left with a natural finish or iridised - a RoHS complaint conductive finish.
