Products Cable Management Taking inspection technology to the next level
Fast fit dividers
A new range of fast fit reducing dividers has been introduced by Flexicon to help simplify and speed up cable installation. The reducing dividers, commonly
referred to as trouser legs, are avail- able in a number of different sizes and are part of the FPA and FPAX system of fittings into which flexible conduit can be fitted and secured in less than three seconds. The conduit is pushed into the fitting and then twisted to secure. The fitting has a high pull off strength of up to 70kg, but can be released if necessary using a screwdriver. The dividers have rounded internal corners for easy pull through of cables and mounting lugs for secure fixing. They are well suited for applications where cables need to be rerouted. Other benefits of the FPA and FPAX ranges include tamper resistance, suit- ability for both fine and coarse pitch flex- ible conduit and for temperatures between -50°C to 135°C. In addition it is a low fire hazard product that is halogen, sulphur and phosphorous-free. The product has also been vibration and shock tested to EN 61373 Cat 2. Flexicon

Building on the success of its Super Cam V6, Super Rod has introduced the V7 version which has a coiled design, enabling it to be used over longer distances.
The Super Cam V7 features a sprung camera head with integral light source, which makes it well suited for inspecting under floors, cable runs, wall spaces and machinery.
The system uses a plug and play assembly, with the coiled GRP plugging directly into the camera head and monitor base unit. Power is supplied either by the mains or via an integral power source in the base unit. The record function can be remotely operated, and saved footage can be reviewed on the integral monitor or trans-
ferred via USB. When not in use, the entire kit packs into a protective plastic case. Commenting on the development, managing director of Super Rod, Malcolm Duncan, said, “The V6 ver- sion is a very popular line, however, customer feedback highlighted that there is a need for a mass market coiled inspection camera, which can be used in ducting, through conduit etc. “We discussed the requirement and decided that there was room in the range to offer both product types side by side - the V6 endoscope style camera for short distance inspections and the V7 coiled product for longer distances.”

Hylec-APL has launched its Kwik Fix range of cable glands which are designed for use in applications where access to the interior of a bulkhead or enclo- sure is restricted. Traditional dome topped cable glands are well suited for creating a simple and secure entry point for bulkheads and enclosures. Secured from the inside using a locking nut they form an IP68 seal which a cable can be simply passed through. However, when access to the inside is restricted, installation time can be greatly increased and it may even be nec-
Split cable entry frames
The icotek cable entry system available from M Buttkereit has been extended to include the new KEL 183 series. This product features a split black polyamide frame assembly for ease of both initial cable assemblies as well as simple accommodation of additional cabling and general retro-fitting applications. The overall frame size is 202 x 120mm, which can be equipped with grey coloured elastomer inserts to provide IP54 cable seal- ing, and can also accommodate cables and tubes up to 75mm diameter in a variety of cable sizes and grouping combinations. Standard frame plus insert assemblies can be provided to cover maximum size cable arrangements of two cables up to 75mm in diameter, or one cable of 75mm and four of 34mm diameter, and a third arrangement of eight cables of 34mm diameter. In all cases, cables of lesser diameters can be accommodated, togeth- er with cables incorporating pre-assembled terminations. The ease of achieving both frame and cable run installations at bulkhead junctions, together with the time saving achieved, makes these products suitable for a range of general engineering and commercial applications. This covers control panels up to full machine building projects as well as transportation equip- ment involving trams, trains and marine projects. The elastomer inserts available for the KEL 183 range include split versions to simplify cable layout modifications or cable

essary to adopt specialist tooling or, if the panel is large, two people would be required to assemble the glands into position.
The Kwik Fix cable gland is installed by placing the mounting foot of the gland through the entry hole. The mounting foot is designed with a lip that can be pulled tight against the inner wall - an external hexagonal locking nut is then turned anti-clockwise to hold the gland in place and form an IP68 seal. Once locked in place the corresponding cable can be installed in the traditional manner. This means that the gland can be
easily mounted and dismounted from one side enabling simpler installation and maintenance. The gland can be fitted onto entries where the wall thickness is between 1mm and 4mm and the waterproof solutions can operate safely in temperatures between -20°C and 100°C. Hylec-APL

additions, while ensuring a minimum of on-site work. The inserts can be supplied pre-formed for clamping and sealing cable O/D sizes of 34-44mm, 44-54mm or 54-64mm respectively. A pre- formed insert is also available for cable sizes of 64-75mm diam- eter, together with a blind insert which can be incorporated to accommodate future cabling requirements. This can be cut as required (cable diameter minus 10mm to achieve IP54 sealing) to act as a mixed, multi-diameter insert for varied individual cables up to 55mm in size.
Both the polyamide frames and elastomer inserts are halogen- and silicone-free and achieve flame class UL94 VO. M Buttkereit

REHAU has added to its Bench Trunking range with the introduction of its Desktop Columns. The new columns are currently available free standing with the option of up to 12 terminal outlets or, if structural- ly supported, up to 24 terminal outlets. They satisfy the requirements of BS 7671 and BS EN 50175-2-1 and can be supplied complete with contrasting coloured lids or socket collars to meet the visibility requirements of Part M of the Building Regulations.
