Kuoni moves to reassure trade

Kuoni has stepped up its commitment

to the trade by scrapping its five per cent online booking discount promoted through its consumer site. There is now no difference in the pricing between online products that are sold in Kuoni's stores and holidays booked through independent agents. Instead, Kuoni is offering tactical discounts on selected products and departure dates, available through all channels. The Kuoni online ‘Lates Calendar’

shows 'best prices' by departure date and identifies when availability is limited. It also highlights which Kuoni Plus offers are available. In addition, Kuoni is updating its Kuoni Specialist Agent programme to include dedicated brochure display material, overseas fams, product training, evening seminars and point of sale materials. www.kuoni.co.uk

that includes four five-night stays at hotels worldwide and £2,000 towards travel expenses. There's also a regular monthly prize of a three-night stay. Entries with the name of a specific

SLH hotel in its title will also be accepted. Answers can be submitted via the prize draw form on the company’s dedicated travel agent website: http://agents.slh.com

Martin Steady was invited on a high-level UK trade mission to Nepal. Representing the UK travel trade, Steady spent time with key government ministers, the Nepal Tourism Board, and even the President of Nepal, discussing opportunities for Nepal as the country begins to establish a new strategy for securing tourism growth. “Nepal is primarily seen as a leading

trekking and mountaineering destination, and for its world-class routes in the Himalayas region,” said Steady. “However, the new objective is to

widen the knowledge of other tourism opportunities on offer like soft adventure, safaris, national parks, culture, spirituality/ religion and art and to communicate this message through the travel trade." Steady has been asked to work closely

with various Nepalese departments to establish a framework for meeting these objectives over the coming years.
