ST KITTS This 68-mile-square isle sits at the centre of the Leeward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean. This sprawling stronghold, with 24 canons, has been magnificently restored. Built by British colonialists and African slaves in the 17th century it has panoramic views of the island’s coastline. St Kitts would suit clients looking for both culture and coast. In March 2010, British Airways added a second weekly flight to the island. What’s New: The island’s potential as a bird-watching destination will be highlighted as part of the tourist board’s 2012 campaign.
