New fast, miniature camera generation with Cmosis sensors Henning Tiarks Basler Vision Technologies

Basler’s new Ace cameras combine several distinct factors unique in today’s camera landscape and

offer an outstanding price-performance ratio. The cameras use the CMV2000 (2 Megapixel) and CMV4000 (4 Megapixel) CMOS sensors from Cmosis that deliver 340fps and 180fps respectively. They come in an extremely compact 29 x 29 x 43.5mm housing with Camera Link interface and fewer than 90g overall weight, which allows smaller systems to be built and the cameras to be used in space-critical situations. The data measured according to the

EMVA 1288 standard shows that the image quality, even in such a compact housing, is comparable to many parameters for standard CCDs and outperforms older generation CMOS sensors. All in all, this camera generation offers a small and fast camera with superior image quality and an outstanding starting list price of €1,090. www.baslerweb.com

ELiiXA+, an innovative sensor and camera approach to address very high-end applications Sébastien Teysseyre e2v semiconductors

e2v’s next generation of line scan cameras set high standards for line rate and image quality. Thanks to e2v’s recently developed multi-line CMOS

technology, the camera provides 100,000 lines per second in a 16k pixel format and combines high response with an extremely low noise level. This delivers high signal-to- noise ratio even when short integration times are required or when illumination is limited. The 5µm pixel size is arranged in four active lines, ensuring optimal spatial resolution in both scanning and sensor directions with off-the-shelf lenses. An outstanding data rate in excess of 1.6

Gigapixels per second, delivered via a CoaXPress interface, allows for extremely high throughput and opens up an array of inspection possibilities for demanding applications such as flat panel display, PCB, and solar cell inspection. www.e2v.com

Smart camera-based 3D triangulation sensor – EyeScan 3D Michael Beising EVT Eye Vision Technology

EVT has developed an extremely compact sensor head based on a laser triangulation sensor and fast digital signal processor. This scan head includes all

components to generate a 3D point cluster. Additionally, the graphically programmable EyeVision 3D software is available for direct evaluation of 3D data in the sensor head. Therefore, 3D image acquisition and evaluation is conducted in the sensor head. Alternative setups are a discrete solution, in which the camera, laser and computer system have to be calibrated and programmed, which can be complex, or using a sensor head comprising the laser and the camera and the 3D point cluster is conveyed to the computer. With this smart camera, 3D image evaluation systems can be created easily. www.evt-web.com

Intelligent camera with integrated CoDeSys PLC Heino Bauer Festo

The intelligent Festo compact camera system is supplied with an

integrated CoDeSys PLC, which allows seamless

integration of cameras into an industrial automation PLC-network. Since the camera supports all PLC programming languages of the standard IEC 61131-3, the user doesn’t have to learn any camera-specific script languages.

The camera supports machine vision tasks dedicated to industrial automation, such as quality inspection, position detection of parts, 1D and 2D barcode reading, and OCR. Using the integrated CAN interface, the camera can act as a CANopen Master-PLC, while with the integrated Ethernet interface, it can
